Software Engineer Internship
Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield is offering an internship opportunity within their Technology Division, focusing on application development. Interns will gain hands-on experience in the health insurance industry by assisting with application management, troubleshooting, and developing business knowledge necessary for effective support.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the management and troubleshooting of multiple applications in support of Wellmark's systems
- In collaboration with application operations, assist and work with Technology and business stakeholders to troubleshoot and provide production support to research and find root cause for systems errors
- Develop business knowledge of the application necessary to effectively provide support maintenance
Skills
- Current junior, senior or master's student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field
- Experience or knowledge of software development technologies (Angular, NodeJS, TypeScript, C++, .NET, Java, or SQL)
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills. Accuracy and high attention to detail and self-starter
- Ability to troubleshoot and develop creative technical solutions
- Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Ability to gather information, perform necessary research needed for root cause analysis, problem definition and formulation, recommend solution using data to support recommendations
- Excellent writing and communication skills to communicate with all levels of the organization
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Excellent organizational skills. Strong time management skills with the ability to set and meet established timeframes with little direction, while assuring data and information integrity
- Prior work experience in an office environment or internship
- Experience in software development lifecycle methodologies
