Description Job Title: Behavioral Health Manager FLSA Status: Full-Time/Salaried/Exempt Reports To: Chief Information Officer Location: Remote within South Carolina Position Summary The Behavioral Health Manager plays a critical role in overseeing, coordinating, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services across the state. This position provides strategic leadership for Behavioral Health Specialists and clinical therapists, supporting their professional development while ensuring youth and families receive effective, evidence-based care. As a Behavioral Health Manager, you will supervise and mentor Behavioral Health Specialists and Clinical Therapists, support recruitment and onboarding, and oversee caseload distribution to ensure efficient and equitable service delivery. You will also guide the development and implementation of individualized service plans, behavior modification plans (BMPs), and psychosocial rehabilitative (PRS) and family support (FS) services, while monitoring outcomes and ensuring compliance with agency policies, state regulations, and Medicaid standards. This role requires fostering collaboration across internal teams and external agencies, managing client referrals, coordinating authorizations, and ensuring the responsible utilization of resources. Additionally, the Behavioral Health Manager drives the professional growth of staff through structured training and ongoing supervision, strengthening both individual staff skills and the overall effectiveness of the program. By providing strong leadership and hands-on support, the Behavioral Health Manager ensures that children and families facing behavioral health challenges receive consistent, high-quality services that help them thrive at home, in school, and in the community. Your leadership is essential to creating lasting, positive change in the lives of the families served and the broader community. Key Responsibilities: Program Oversight & Service Management

  • Track referrals and assign all new Behavioral Health cases and services statewide.
  • Manage utilization and oversee the delivery of Behavioral Health services across all service locations.
  • Assist in developing the program budget and provide financial oversight, including identifying opportunities to enhance revenue through service delivery.
  • Attend meetings with internal teams, referring agencies, and other stakeholders to coordinate services and foster collaboration.
  • Promote effective communication between referral sources, staff, and families, ensuring consistent sharing of program information and updates.
  • Represent Growing Hope in the community to increase visibility, generate referrals, establish relationships, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, policies, and risk management protocols for Behavioral Health services.
  • Maintain a current understanding of best practices and innovative approaches to behavioral health service delivery.

Supervision & Staff Development

  • Provide direct supervision to Behavioral Health Specialists and Clinical Therapists.
  • Conduct interviews, participate in hiring decisions, and onboard staff supporting the Behavioral Health department.
  • Complete staff evaluations, manage payroll items, and ensure all supervisory responsibilities are completed within required timeframes.
  • Ensure adequate professional development and training for staff, in accordance with regulatory requirements and agency policy.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to help staff refine skills, achieve professional development goals, and enhance service quality.
  • Train staff on departmental policies, procedures, and best practices for providing BMod, PRS, and FS services, including documentation and developing Behavior Modification Plans (BMPs).

Leadership & Communication

  • Clearly communicate expectations, decisions, and operational needs both internally and externally.
  • Foster a positive, professional team environment that supports collaboration, innovation, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Establish and maintain a network of professional resources to support staff and enhance program outcomes.

Other

  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support the mission and success of the program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in human services, social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience in behavioral health or a related human services setting (highly preferred).
  • Required licensed practitioner in South Carolina, such as:

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC): Requires a master’s degree in counseling and state licensure. Licensed Psycho-educational Specialist (LPES): Requires a master’s degree in a relevant field and state licensure. Licensed Independent Social Worker, Clinical Practice (LISW-CP): Requires a master’s degree in social work and state licensure. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT): Requires a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy and state licensure.

  • Demonstrated experience working with youth, families, and vulnerable populations, including children involved in foster care or child welfare systems.
  • Proven ability to manage staff, caseloads, and program operations while ensuring quality and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Behavior management and intervention strategies
  • Family systems dynamics
  • Community organization and ecological frameworks
  • Skills in supervision, coaching, and professional development of staff.
  • Ability to develop, monitor, and implement behavior modification plans (BMPs) and psychosocial rehabilitative (PRS) and family support (FS) services.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to convey expectations, provide feedback, and engage stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills; ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in coordinating services, monitoring program outcomes, and ensuring compliance with Medicaid, state, and agency regulations.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with staff, families, and external agencies.

Location and Work Environment Growing Hope delivers behavioral health services across South Carolina, connecting with youth and families in their homes, schools, and communities. This position is remote within South Carolina, with occasional travel to the Cayce office for staff training and meetings. This role offers a dynamic and flexible work environment. It requires availability during evenings and weekends to ensure families receive timely and effective support. While this is not a traditional 9-to-5 position, it provides the opportunity to make a meaningful, hands-on impact in the lives of children, youth, and families throughout the community.
