Data Scientist, Applied Meteorology - REMOTE

- Fit and assess predictive models leveraging numerical weather forecasts and other data sources in Python
- Analyze retrospective and forward-looking impact of weather on the utility grid
- Collaborate with a broader data science and engineering team to take projects and products from inception to client delivery
What will make you a great fit
- MS in atmospheric science, meteorology, engineering, mathematics, statistics or similar field of study, plus one year of applied experience or PhD with applied analysis in aforementioned field of study
- Minimum three years of experience conducting data science projects using spatial-temporal weather datasets in industry or applied research, including analytical design, managing schedules, and communicating results to stakeholders
- Extensive experience fitting and assessing predictive models leveraging numerical weather forecasts in Python
- Experience conducting all phases of analysis, including data compilation, EDA, feature engineering, and generating deliverables
- Experience working as part of a larger data science team, collaborating with technical and nontechnical peers and stakeholders
Preferred qualifications:
- Domain expertise using remotely sensed weather observations
- Domain expertise using numerical weather prediction models (e.g., GFS, NAM, HRRR)
- Experience leveraging cloud computing infrastructure (e.g., AWS)
- Domain expertise in the utility space (electric, gas, water)

The budgeted salary for this position is: $90,000 to $145,000 USD + annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
