Experienced Special Education Teacher – Elementary School, Work From Home Opportunity in Colorado

Job Summary

As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing instruction, support, and guidance to students with special needs, as defined by each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). You will work closely with parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders to manage course goals, curriculum, and materials that enhance the learning experience. You will also participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and host live synchronous sessions to promote a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Implement instructional strategies that stimulate learning and increase student engagement

• Create instructional resources to meet the varying needs of students
• Collaborate with parents and colleagues to manage course goals, curriculum, and materials that enhance the learning experience
• Actively participate in PLCs and host live synchronous sessions to promote a positive learning environment
• Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed
• Participate in data analysis meetings to monitor student growth
• Collects data and work samples to support documentation of IEP goals
• Documents all contact with parents, collaborations with general education teachers, and interventions with students
• Makes modifications and accommodations to K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP
• Collaborates with general education teachers to ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom
• Communicates with parents and applicable related service staff to ensure that students with special needs are receiving the appropriate therapies

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree(s) in Special Education or related field

• Minimum three (3) years teaching experience
• Teaching Certificate(s) in Special Education
• Transcripts
• Performance Evaluations
• Prior Year State Assessment Data
• Reference Letter(s)
• Ability to travel 10%
• Endorsement: Special Education Certificates and Licenses: Appropriate state certification
• Residency Requirement: Must be a Colorado resident

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with the proposed age group

• Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
• Ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g., database and web-based tools)
• Ability to clear required background check(s)
• Experience working in a virtual environment
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools
• Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
• Familiar with Blackboard Collaborative or other online platforms

Skills and Competencies

* Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook

• Strong written/verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
• Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school
• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders

Compensation and Benefits

* Salary: $26,104.00 to $68,361.27 per year

• Eligible employees may receive a bonus
• Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range
• Exempt (salary)
