Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Searching Guard to join our team in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our premises, assets, and personnel through a range of security and surveillance activities. Key Responsibilities

Escorting

As a Searching Guard, you will be responsible for:

• Ensuring that all visitors to the premises are authorised by the Head of the specific department before entering the premises
• Verifying the identity of all visitors and ensuring that they comply with company policies and procedures
• Locking all cell phones and weapons of visitors in designated safe provided before entering premises
• Issuing access permits to all visitors entering the premises and collecting signed permits from visitors on departure
• Escorting all visitors to their destination or arranging for collection of visitors at entrance
• Positively identifying all visitors before entry is authorized
• Ensuring that all after-hours visitors comply with company policies and procedures
• Ensuring that suppliers and service providers are not left alone on the premises and that they have left the premises after carrying out their duties
• Preventing employees from accessing departments that they do not belong to

Searching

As a Searching Guard, you will also be responsible for:

• Carrying out searching duties in a proper and ethical manner
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
• Preventing the removal of company assets from premises without proper authorization
• Searching of employees, visitors, parcels, trolleys, bags, and tool cases that may contain or conceal company property or assets
• Reporting any suspicious activity or items to the Security Compliance Officer without delay
• Maintaining control over firearms, cell phones, and cameras of visitors and employees
• Maintaining and updating all necessary registers in terms of company procedures

Record Keeping

As a Searching Guard, you will also be responsible for:

• Maintaining documentation for the removal of all company property
• Keeping accurate records of all security activities
• Providing audit reports as required
• Maintaining a record of company assets, including serial numbers of equipment
• Ensuring that visitors' slips are filled in correctly on entry and exit with all relevant information

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• A Grade 12 certificate
• No criminal record
• A clean credit record
• Not to have participated in YES previously (will be validated)
• To be unemployed (affidavit required to confirm)
• Not to be on a current unemployed learnership
• To be between the ages of 25-30

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience will be highly regarded:

• PSIRA E, D, or C certification
• Firearm competencies
