About the Substitute Teacher Role

We're seeking a passionate and experienced Substitute Teacher to join our team in Manchaca, TX. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. Our substitutes are the backbone of our organization, and we're looking for individuals who share our values and are committed to providing high-quality education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide instructional support to students in the absence of the regular teacher
• Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the regular teacher
• Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
• Communicate with school staff and administrators as needed
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
• Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your teaching skills

Essential Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• Background check (we'll cover the cost of this)
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience
• Special education or paraprofessional experience
• Certifications or endorsements in specific subjects, such as Math, Science, or Special Education

Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt to new situations and challenges
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Flexibility and willingness to work varied schedules
• Proficiency in classroom management and trauma-informed teaching
