Key Responsibilities

As a Bilingual Teacher (Polish Language) at Benson Primary School and Franzen Intermediate School, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, tailored to the needs of students in grades Kdg, 1, and 2
  • Providing instruction in both English and Polish, promoting bilingualism and biliteracy among students
  • Assessing student progress, identifying areas of improvement, and adapting instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum, ensuring alignment with district and state standards
  • Communicating effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and involving them in the educational process
  • Participating in professional development opportunities, staying current with best practices in bilingual education and language instruction

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from an accredited institution
  • A valid Teaching Certification, with a Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • A Bilingual Endorsement, demonstrating proficiency in both English and Polish
  • Registration with the DuPage Regional Office of Education

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including bilingual or ESL students
  • Knowledge of Polish language and culture, with the ability to promote cultural awareness and understanding
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
