About the Instructional Aide Position

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Instructional Aide to join our team at United Preparatory Academy - State St. As an Instructional Aide, you will have the unique opportunity to explore the field of education, gain hands-on practice, and receive the training necessary to become a successful full-time classroom teacher. You will work closely with experienced educators, observe best practices in classroom instruction, provide in-house substitute teaching coverage, co-teach with teacher-leaders, and support teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small-group instruction.

Key Responsibilities

• Support teachers with lesson planning, instruction, and assessment
• Provide individual or small-group instruction to students who need extra support
• Observe and learn from experienced educators, and implement best practices in classroom instruction
• Co-teach with teacher-leaders and provide in-house substitute teaching coverage
• Assist with tutoring, grading, and other instructional tasks as needed
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
• Use data-driven instructional practices and techniques outlined in Teach Like a Champion 3.0 to improve student outcomes

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A high school diploma/GED and the ability to secure the appropriate teaching permit (Associate's degree preferred)
• Prior experience working in urban schools and/or communities (preferred)
• A strong commitment to using data-driven instructional practices and techniques to improve student outcomes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortability with Google products for effective communication and completion of job responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

• Experience working with students in an elementary school setting
• Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
• Experience with instructional technology and educational software
• Bilingual or multilingual skills
