About the Senior Design Researcher Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Researcher to join our team at Walmart. As a Senior Design Researcher, you'll play a critical role in informing product guides and designs through UX research. Your expertise will help us understand customer needs, motivations, and pain points, driving business decisions and shaping the future of retail.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct UX research that impacts product guides and informs design decisions
• Run workshops, lead generative and evaluative studies, and present findings to executives
• Utilize a wide range of research methods, including live studies, un-directed studies, field review, participatory design, heuristic assessments, and remote usability testing
• Prioritize initiatives with key stakeholders and proactively seek and utilize competitive research, data, and analysis to inform design and business strategies
• Advocate for Design Thinking principles while collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional partners
• Communicate effectively with empathy and kindness, including strong presentation skills

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

• A four-year degree in UI/UX design, visual depiction, visual communication, product design, computer science, data technology, or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience in market research, business analysis, UX design research, or a related field
• Strong working knowledge and experience in both generative and evaluative research techniques
• The ability to work independently while seeking and welcoming feedback from senior leaders and managers
• A self-starter mentality with a focus on delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

To take your application to the next level, consider:

• Leading product development in a design research area, such as market research, business analysis, or UX design research
• A graduate degree in UI/UX design, interactive and visual design, product design, or a related field
• Related industry experience, such as retail, supply chain, e-commerce, or healthcare
• Research or design certifications, such as IDEOU - Foundations in Design Thinking Certification
