About the Role

As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. We're looking for individuals with a passion for education and a commitment to putting students first. You'll be supported every step of the way by our dedicated team, including a Scoot consultant who will help you develop your skills and provide guidance throughout your subbing journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Develop and implement lesson plans, as needed, to ensure continuity of learning
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, including teachers, administrators, and other support personnel
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check & TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
• Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with special needs
• Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies
