Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our inquiry stage group, focusing on Disney Streaming applications (Disney+, Hulu, and Star+). As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work closely with a team to design, build, and manage scalable data pipelines that power search functionality for our streaming services. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the entertainment industry and contribute to the growth and success of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and streamline data pipeline engineering to enhance the client experience for Disney Streaming clients
  • Collaborate with AI engineers and data scientists across the organization to support a robust data delivery pipeline for Search use cases
  • Work with cross-functional teams, such as Product and Program, to identify search-related business requirements and provide technical solutions
  • Mentor, empower, and provide career development opportunities for colleagues
  • Cultivate and maintain effective communication channels with colleagues, partners, and leadership
  • Monitor and improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of our search system's data pipelines
  • Ensure Search data is isolated and secure across various server farms and AWS regions
  • Leave systems better than you found them, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in computer programming or data engineering, with a focus on building well-designed databases, data pipelines, and contributing to a positive team environment
  • Proven track record of being part of a team that solves problems, plans, and implements end-to-end software at scale
  • Mentorship experience and a desire to help colleagues improve their skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting and explaining complex technical ideas to peers and leadership
  • Action-oriented, with experience delivering high-quality software solutions on time, at scale, and within budget

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of search technologies, such as Elasticsearch, Solr, or Lucene, and applied AI techniques, like supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and natural language processing
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS, and data engineering tools, such as Apache Beam, Apache Spark, or Apache Kafka
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
