Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Customer Engineer Manager to lead our team of customer-facing engineers. As a Customer Engineer Manager, you will be responsible for collaborating with the Sales and Customer Engineering (CE) leadership to determine appropriate staffing levels, outline work orders, and lead interview teams to fill open positions. You will also evaluate the CE team's go-to-market readiness, identify gaps in CE preparedness, and build plans to ensure the team is properly trained and equipped to support annualized business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Engineering (CE) leadership to determine appropriate staffing levels, outline work orders, and lead interview teams to fill open positions
  • Evaluate the CE team's go-to-market readiness, identify gaps in CE preparedness, and build plans to ensure the team is properly trained and equipped to support annualized business objectives
  • Work with Google Workspace Outreach team leadership to identify, qualify, and target opportunities for business growth
  • Participate in key accounts as executive support, and establish relationships across the customer organization
  • Collaborate with the Business Development, Customer Success, Product managers, Customer Solutions, and Engineering team to resolve product issues affecting pre- and post-sales customer satisfaction

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A four-year college degree in Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • At least 4 years of experience as a technical sales engineer lead in a SaaS or cloud environment, or a customer-facing role
  • Experience driving Customer Design, and managing design teams

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • An MBA or Graduate degree in Software Engineering
  • Experience serving in the capacity of a pre-sales, field engineering leader, or as a customer-facing field engineer
  • Knowledge of PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, public cloud, and related technical concepts
  • Ability to occasionally work across different time zones

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of customer-facing engineers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
